Ejelta LLC publishes the 'Where Am I?' app as a free service. It has no advertisements, no in-app purchases, no user accounts and no analytics. This page describes what information the app handles and where it goes. It applies to version 1.16 and later; earlier versions were ad-supported and are no longer distributed.
In short: your location is used on your device to show you where you are. It is sent to Google to obtain the street address and the map, and nowhere else. Ejelta LLC does not receive, store or share any information from the app.
The app asks for permission to use your device's location while the app is in use. It does not request access to your location in the background. With the "Continuous Updates" option the app keeps following your position after you switch to another app, and shows an ongoing notification with a Stop button while it does so.
Your position (latitude, longitude, elevation and accuracy) is used on the device to display coordinates, sunrise and sunset times, the telephone area code, and a trail of recent positions on the map. Telephone prefixes are looked up in tables built into the app.
To show a street address, the app hands your coordinates to the geocoding service provided by Google Play services on your device, which returns the address. To show the map, the Google Maps component in the app requests map imagery for the area around your position from Google. Both requests are made only while the app is in use and are needed for the app to function.
The app remembers your last position, the address for it, the recent trail and your settings in its private storage on the device, so that it can start where it left off. "Clear trail" in the menu removes the trail. Uninstalling the app removes everything it stored.
The "Share/send to" action composes a short text with your current address and a map link and passes it to the app you choose, such as a messaging or note-taking app. This happens only when you ask for it, and what happens to that text afterwards is governed by the app you send it to.
The app relies on Google Play services and the Google Maps SDK for Android, which are governed by the Google Privacy Policy. Google states that the Maps SDK automatically sends it technical information such as device metadata, the SDK version, crash reports, your IP address, an identifier used to count active installations of the SDK, and map interactions such as panning and zooming, in order to maintain and improve its services. Ejelta LLC does not have access to this information.
The app does not use any advertising, analytics or crash-reporting service.
All communication with Google services is encrypted in transit. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but the app itself transmits nothing beyond what is described above.
The 'Where Am I?' app is not intended as a service for anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13.
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Thus, you are advised to review this page periodically for any changes. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. These changes are effective immediately after they are posted on this page.
